Beauty Babe: Morgan Kristine

12:31 AM

This is my first installment of my Beauty Babe series. The first woman that I am featuring is Morgan Kristine. Morgan is 23 years old from Matteson, Illinois. She is an aesthetician and laser specialist at Solux Med Spa. I sat down with her two weeks ago. We took some photos and discussed her career along with all things beauty.

What is your definition of beauty?
Confidence. Whether a woman is wearing a face full of makeup or she doesn't  wear any at all, confidence is what makes someone more beautiful than from someone who is not quite sure of themselves.

What inspired you to become an aesthetician?
So I've always had a fascination with skincare. My mom has pictures of me when I was little of me picking at my dad's face and mixing lotions in the bathroom. As I got older, I did have bad acne and that fueled my passion even more to help [other] people who had skin issues. I knew how it felt to have people stare at you and when you're trying to fix your skin and don't exactly know how to do it. I wanted to be a source so people can come to me and I could help them with their skin problems.

Do you prefer skincare products with more natural ingredients?
I definitely have a mix of both. Any who follows me on Instagram will know that my some of my cleansers or my masks might be more chemically-based. A lot of my products are more natural because they work better for my skin. It really depends on how your skin re-acts to some organic ingredients. It's not good to write off natural products. Some people assume that natural products aren't as effective but that's not necessarily true. If something is chemically based that doesn't mean that it's going to be great for your skin. For example there is man-made glycolic acid and there are natural forms of glycolic acid. You just have to find out what works for you.

Do you have any advice for someone trying to better their skin?
Make an appointment to see an aesthetician. An aesthetician has the the tools to see what skin type you have. Getting a proper diagnosis really helps. When I went to school, I was examined and I found out that I had dry skin [instead of oily skin]. I started using products for dry skin and my skin actually cleared up and I had no more acne.

Where do yourself in the next 10 years?
I want to be working alongside a dermatologist, specializing in ethnic skin. Especially helping those who have acne and have gone through chemotherapy.
