Say You'll Be There

Finally a new outfit post!! It's been a few months since I posted an official one but here it is. Lately, I have really been inspired by European street fashion especially from London. Even though Missguided has been around for a long time, I'm just now falling in love with their brand. I have avoided shopping there for so long solely because I thought everything they had in stock would be too overpriced but I was pleasantly surprised. Most of their items were reasonably priced and very fashion forward. I picked out this long sleeve shirt dress from the store online. The material is very light and smooth and I look forward to wearing this as a dress and pairing it with a strappy pair of heels. I'm not use to wearing pieces like this so if anyone has any styling advice on other ways I could wear this shirt dress let me know :)

Fancy Friday

Hey everyone, I'm sorry that I've been so absentee on this blog lately. This month has been a whirlwind. Due to my classes,my internship, and other personal commitments, I haven't had much time to blog :/ Also, the weather in Chicago has been complete chaos so I haven't had the patience to go out and shoot outfit posts in the cold. Hopefully, I can start posting more regularly and consistently soon. In the mean time, enjoy Iggy Azalea's latest video masterpiece :)

What I'm Listening To

With all of the things going on in my life, I definitely use music as an outlet to escape reality for awhile. Listening to music helps me relax, especially on those long train rides to and from school. Below I put some of my favorite songs that have constantly been on repeat. I hope you guys enjoy them and if you have any song suggestions feel free to let me know :)

A Night At The Circus

On February 7th, Circus Magazine collaborated with the Hispanic Journalists of Columbia and threw its first event. The event included live performances and a fashion show. Local Chicago acts like DJ 13laculaAshton Martin, Afro Fuzz, and the 151s performed all throughout the night. The fashion show was at the dead center of the event and I was so happy that I had the opportunity to help style and organize the show.

The event had a great turnout and mostly everything turned out exactly as planned. The decorations, music, models, hair stylists and the entire team at Circus were amazing. I can only hope that the next event we throw will be just as good. P.S. the promotional photo shoot for the event was shot by Lyndon French was perfection and you should definitely check that out.

Adore Me Giveaway

February is officially here which means Valentine's Day aka "Single Awareness Day" is right around the corner. Whether you have a girlfriend or boyfriend to spend the day with or you are rolling solo, I think that it is important to treat yourself or your partner to something special. Treating yourself to a day of relaxation will definitely help you feel good. Another thing that will help make you feel good on Valentine's Day is lingerie. Lingerie definitely has the potential to make you feel sexier and more in control.

The best place to buy unique and alluring lingerie is Adore MeAdore Me is a NYC-based fast fashion lingerie company that offers designer lingerie, sleepwear and swimwear at affordable prices. They design for every kind of woman, and offer a wide range of styles and sizes, and even have styles that go up to size DD+ and above. Also, they have online stylists that are always there to help with any styling or fit questions.
The set that I received from them is insanely comfortable and looks way better than my other lingerie pieces.I can honestly say that the bra pictured above and below is one of my current favorites.

Fortunately, one of my lucky readers will be able to win a free lingerie set of their choice from Adore Me as well :) All you have to do is enter the giveaway below and follow all of the steps on the widget. Don't Worry Be Happy

Photo via untrustyou.tumblr.com

This morning I woke up with a million and one things on my mind. I was just laying in bed and thinking about all of the things I would have to do within the next week. Basically, I was stressing myself out and worrying about whether or not I couldn't handle all of it. Then I stopped and realized that worrying about things I can't control is only going to make things worse. I definitely had to play some happy music to help calm my nerves. Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin made me feel so much better. Every time I hear this song, it makes me think of my early childhood and how simple things used to be.

 Happy Sunday :)

Book Review: The Isle of Youth

The Isle of Youth by Laura Van Den Berg

At the beginning of the month, I began reading The Isle of Youth thanks to Nylon Magazine's recommendation. I wanted to find something to read during the rest of winter break and this book was definitely a good fit. I have to admit that outside of school I don't read for pleasure too often. This is because I have the attention span of a squirrel sometimes and finding a novel that genuinely grabs my full attention for a long amount of time is almost impossible. Luckily, this novel was broken up into seven unrelated stories that was 20 pages each. This format was extremely ideal for a person like me who craves variety after every 15 minutes.

Another thing that I liked about the book was that majority of the content centered around women from various backgrounds dealing with their daily struggles. Most of these stories are about issues with parents, siblings, spouses, or all of the above. One of my favorite stories to read was I Looked For You, I Called Your Name. I could immediately sense the tension and awkwardness in the newly weds relationship. It was obvious that the narrator wasn't really in love with her husband and she spent majority of her time on the honeymoon coming to that sad realization. I found this section so impactful because I have been in that similar position on more than one occasion. Being in a relationship and not being sure of your or your partner's feelings is the worst.

Another one of my favorite stories was Acrobat. This story is about a married couple who travel to Paris in attempt to re-thrive their struggling relationship. Unfortunately, the husband leaves his wife in the middle of the Jardin des Tuileres and tells her to catch her own flight home. After the shock of her break-up, she then strolls around the Champs-Élysées and makes friends with a small acrobat troupe. Spending time with acrobats helps her to escape the reality that she is now completely on her own. She slowly but surely forgets about her ex-husband and becomes pleasantly vulnerable. From the story, I have learned that you sometimes can't things that are already broken and that guys can be douche bags.

I highly recommend reading this book because it does have something for everyone. Whether you are 16 year-old high school student or a 30 year old lawyer, you will have definitely be able to relate. If you have read this book, let me know what you thought about it. Also, let me know what other books you think I should review next in the comment section below :)
