Jacket and Heels Forever 21

Gray is undoubtedly my favorite color to wear all year round. This sweater dress is the perfect shade of gray for fall and the fit is absolutely perfect. I chose to pair the dress with this jacket and heels for a simple and casual look that could work for both day and night. I love this look but it's so comfy and but looks so put together. When it gets colder, I'll just trade this jacket for a warm trench coat and heels for cute booties.

Which outfit was your favorite???

So I tried to shoot an outfit post today but that was a total fail lol. Instead, I wanted to show you guys who I have been obsessing over for the last few months. Diana Ross' style in the 60s,70s, and 80s was beyond mesmerizing. Diana really embodies that diva aesthetic with her confidence and clever use of sequins and fur. Also, Diana Ross stars in one of my favorite films, Mahogany (1975), so you should definitely check that out. Below, I have placed plenty of my favorite pictures of her. While I was shooting these photos, I had no idea that I was standing in the middle of the Cancer Survivors' Garden in my city. The beautiful garden is definitely one of Chicago's hidden gems and is located at 445 East Randolph Street. Several people in my family have been diagnosed with cancer in the past few years so being at a place like this at random was comforting yet eerie for me. The huge packs of birds flying back and forth while we were staking these pictures stirred those eerie feelings even further. Anyway, this location was more than perfect for an outfit like this with limited color.

If you can't already tell from my past outfit posts, my personal style over the last 6 months has definitely been simplified. A breezy t-shirt,blouse and comfy jeans are my go-to pieces along with practical footwear lately. Claire Marshall,one of my favorite YouTubers, has definitely played a big part in that change. In my opinion,she's one of the few people who can t-shirts and jeans look sophisticated. I admire people like Claire who can make every outfit they're own and that's what I plan on doing from now on.

It's about that time of year,where summer is almost over and fall is soon on the horizon. This time of year was always awkward for me because I could never find great transitional outfits for the season change until now. Now, I am equipped to put together more comfortable and stylish outfits of those extremely warm days in September and October thanks to a few pieces I just bought. One of them being this jacket I found at LOFT and this tank top from Aritzia. Both are really lightweight and extremely versatile and can be worn all year long with the right layering and paired with trousers or jeans. I would to know your thoughts on outfits like this and your own tips for the summer-to-fall transition period.

After looking around for a few minutes, I decided to buy Clueless on VHS. (Yes VHS lol). My parents still have their VCR and I still plan on making use of it because I love old school technology. Anyway, my experience at the store was very pleasant. Great customer service and  atmosphere. I will definitely come back soon for one of their infamous midnight sales on Second Fridays.

Adore Me was gracious enough to send me a surprise gift. In case you haven't heard, Adore Me is a NYC-based company that offers designer lingerie, sleepwear and swimwear at affordable prices. They design for every kind of woman, and offer a wide range of styles and sizes, and even have styles that go up to size DD+ and above. Also, they have online stylists that are always there to help with any styling or fit questions.

I have to to admit I was a bit nervous about what they were going to send me but what they sent exceeded my expectations. I opened the box,unwrapped the paper surrounding it, and saw that it was the Purple Babydoll Nia. The set includes a beautiful babydoll top and a matching G-string. This set looks so good on me and would be perfect to wear on my honeymoon or a special night like that. This babydoll cami is not as conforming as a typical cami with a tight set-in bra so it's also perfect for lazy days around the house or to just fall asleep in.

Since the last time Adore Me sent me a gift set, I noticed that they have improved on their packaging. The box was much more sturdier and much smaller than the last one which was great. Also, I appreciated that my items were wrapped and sealed properly just as before. The illustrations on the inside of the box were a nice touch as well. Unlike most online stores, Adore Me actually takes more time to insure their customers' happiness about their purchase :)

Finally a new outfit post!! It's been a few months since I posted an official one but here it is. Lately, I have really been inspired by European street fashion especially from London. Even though Missguided has been around for a long time, I'm just now falling in love with their brand. I have avoided shopping there for so long solely because I thought everything they had in stock would be too overpriced but I was pleasantly surprised. Most of their items were reasonably priced and very fashion forward. I picked out this long sleeve shirt dress from the store online. The material is very light and smooth and I look forward to wearing this as a dress and pairing it with a strappy pair of heels. I'm not use to wearing pieces like this so if anyone has any styling advice on other ways I could wear this shirt dress let me know :)

The event had a great turnout and mostly everything turned out exactly as planned. The decorations, music,models,hair stylists and the entire team at Circus were amazing. I can only hope that the next event we throw will be just as good. P.S. the promotional photo shoot for the event was shot by Lyndon French was perfection and you should definitely check that out.

2013 was the year that I lost my innocence and gained a sense of maturity. I have learned who I can and cannot trust along with learning who can and cannot depend on. 2013 was the year of letting go. Letting go of the familiar was and still is an on-going struggle for me. Letting go of friendships and relationships with the opposite sex was definitely hard but were actions that I needed to make in order to progress. Doing this made it so much easier to focus on myself and my well-being.

This year, I plan to really improve myself and my craft. Progress will definitely be happening and it will be documented on this blog. This blog will feature more information about myself and what I do on a regular basis. I refuse to limit myself by just blogging about fashion. Starting now, this blog have more organic and substantial material that will cover fashion,literature, and music. I will try to write more reviews and post more about the projects that I'm working on.

To visually showcase my personal transition from 2013 to 2014, I decided to draw inspiration from Lady Gaga's Marry The Night music video. I was instantly drawn to the leather and black along with the bedazzled glasses and jean bralette. I really wanted this outfit to reflect the mood of the song and the video.
