Washington, D.C.

Happy Memorial Day everyone :)
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would know that I went to Washington D.C. for a few days to visit my family. I got to spend two days there and it was great. My family and I did a lot of sight seeing in the downtown area. On Saturday,we saw the White House and other monuments like the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The weather was perfect for walking around and enjoying the Memorial Day weekend events all around the area.

On Sunday, we all went to brunch at Eatonville located at 2121 14th St. NW Washington, D.C. 20009. The theme of the restaurant centered around the work of famous author Zora Neale Hurston. The interior of the restaurant was filled with tons of colorful paintings depicting some of her stories. I wish I could have taken more pictures of them. The food was amazing as well. I shared Biscuits & Jams with my mom and I had the BLGT to myself. Everything tasted so good and the service was amazing. Everything looked and tasted like a home-cooked meal from a Southern kitchen. I only wish they had a Chicago location.

The only thing that I would change about the trip, other that extending it so I could have visited the Smithsonian, is our mode of transportation. We took Amtrak trains both ways and the long ride between 5 states and over 10 stops and delays was so unbearable. Next time, I will definitely take a plane. If anyone lives in D.C. or has been there before can suggest other cool places to visit, let me know.
